Design coordination is a key component of any construction project. However, contractors and owners struggle with ensuring that all stakeholders are using the latest models, so that all day to day construction activities, all conversations, all potential issues are being represented the latest up to date information. Why do we face these challenges? Well, it comes down to four issues. One: Project team members aren’t utilizing the latest model. Each stakeholder may not have downloaded the latest model before collaborating with other team members, which causes confusion and certainty.

Two: creating a federated model to execute effective coordination isn’t possible when some architects and engineering firms are reluctant and apprehensive to share their design model files until the end of the project life cycle.

Three: coordination is constrained to a weekly meeting. And normally limited to one design coordinator having access to the comprehensive model.

And finally, project coordination teams are limited to tracking geometry clashes and nongeometrical clashes in different systems that don’t communicate with each other. So, how do we solve that problem.

Well, InEight’s design coordination solution allows for coordination issues to be created with or without associated geometric clashes and tracked to solution within the project coordination model. Ultimately, it is a process that brings together multiple models from different resources and multiple disciplines with the most up to date information.

This allows everyone on the project team to have the confidence that they have the information they need to assure efficient and effective project certainty. If you’d like to learn more about this and other InEight solutions, contact us. We’ll be happy to schedule a free demo.
