Meet our team
Jake Macholtz
Jake Macholtz is chief executive officer of InEight, with executive oversight responsibilities for InEight’s U.S. and global operations. Jake joined InEight as CEO in 2016, bringing a wide array of knowledge, senior leadership and overall experience in best-in-class technologies and operations processes from the engineering and construction industries.
Before joining InEight, Jake held a number of technology and operational leadership roles at Kiewit, an $12.5 billion construction and engineering giant in North America and Australia. Most recently, he was vice president of Kiewit Technology Group (KTG), responsible for managing all facets of Kiewit’s technology systems and platforms throughout its companywide operations. Beginning in 2011, Jake led Kiewit’s design and implementation of a global enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, the company’s first foray into centralizing all technology solutions across its many businesses and entities. He was instrumental in identifying and leading ongoing efforts to build innovative technologies used daily in the field to improve Kiewit’s project planning, estimating, scheduling and more, driving significant savings and efficiencies within operational and functional groups.
Before his role as the head of KTG, Jake led, sponsored and managed many Kiewit projects in the U.S., holding key sponsor, estimating, engineering, construction manager, project manager and area manager roles. Beginning in 1999, this expertise helped Jake gain a deep understanding of the nuances and needs of the construction and engineering spaces, which has served him well as a technology executive.
Jake holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona.
Brad Barth
As InEight’s Chief Product Officer, Brad Barth is a member of the company’s executive leadership team and a key architect of the company’s product vision and strategy. Prior to InEight, Brad spent twenty years in a similar role at Hard Dollar, where he helped define the project cost management (PCM) category of software that later became the foundation of InEight. Brad has driven many industry innovations in project controls software, most notably in the area of cost-schedule integration. Brad has served on the Board of Advisors for Fiatech/CII and is a frequent speaker at construction industry technology conferences.
Brad holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University.
Brent Thornquist
Brent S. Thornquist is the chief financial officer for InEight, overseeing the functions of accounting, budgeting and financial reporting. He brings more than 30 years of accounting, financial and back-office leadership to the organization. His experience includes leading two implementations of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Prior to InEight, Brent was the vice president of finance for two multistate specialty construction companies in the fire protection industry. He was responsible for the accounting, reporting, budgeting and compliance functions. These two companies had nine offices throughout the U.S., with projects and/or licensing in more than 40 states.
In addition, Brent worked as an audit manager for a national accounting firm performing financial statement audits and reviews of internal controls for a variety of customers in different industries.
Brent attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, where he received a bachelor’s degree in accountancy.
Dan Hicks
Dan joined InEight in May 2016 as the chief operating officer. Since then, he has applied his vision, knowledge and experience to bring together and effectively lead the sales, services and marketing departments, as well as develop a strong go-to-market strategy.
Before accepting the position as COO of InEight, Dan was the senior vice president of technology and operational services at West Corporation. There, he led multifaceted teams in a $750 million standalone business unit, including technology, sales, operations, project management, training, compliance, business analytics, management development, workforce optimization and P&L delivery.
Dan brings more than 30 years of accomplishments spanning all functional business team disciplines both domestically and globally, utilizing a unique ability to identify key business drivers and operationalize strategies both for immediate and long-term sustainable improvement.
Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Morningside College of Business in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mark Edwards
Mark Edwards joined InEight in 2018 as chief delivery officer. In this role, he is responsible for product development, customer success, service delivery, training, and InEight’s project management office.
Previously, Mark was the chief product officer within the Kiewit Technology Group. Mark led application planning, development, deployment and support for all areas of construction and engineering. He also focused on product vision and execution, as well as developing a strong product team. His approach included balancing the right blend of strategy and innovation with a focus on operational excellence.
Before joining Kiewit, Mark spent six years as vice president at InterCall, a subsidiary of West Corporation. InterCall is the world’s largest conferencing service provider and is a cornerstone of West’s Unified Communications segment.
Mark holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Ph.D. from University of Oklahoma.
Scott Workman
Scott Workman is the chief administrative officer for InEight, responsible for the company’s global support, education and training, technical writing, information technology and cyber-security teams. Additionally, he serves as InEight’s privacy officer managing employee immigration cases while also overseeing property/facility management.
Prior to joining InEight in 2016, Scott was the director of client engagement for the Kiewit Technology Group and was responsible for all IT support staff at Kiewit’s district offices and associated jobsites, as well as Kiewit’s internal service desk. His group implemented, supported and maintained technology in the field while pursuing strong partnerships with operations personnel.
Scott attended Bellevue University in Omaha, Nebraska, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in international business. Scott received his Certified Chief Information Security Officer status from the EC Council and has certifications from Prosci (Change Management), IAPP (GDPR Certification), the Disaster Recovery Institute and the International Facility Management Association.
Steve Carlisle
Steve Carlisle is the vice president of human resources for InEight. He has over 30 years of human resources experience in various industries including software development, construction, manufacturing and mining.
In this role, he leads a global team of HR professionals whose primary focus is to help develop and enhance InEight’s amazing work culture, provide competitive compensation and benefit packages, and ensure that InEight employees have ample career advancement opportunities.
Prior to InEight, Steve was an employee services director for InEight’s parent company Kiewit. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated the ability to establish lasting relationships with individuals and work closely with employees to strategically develop and leverage their individual talents.
Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in management and computer information systems from Chadron State College in western Nebraska.
Max Risenhoover
Max Risenhoover is a member of InEight’s leadership team and serves as an executive vice president with a focus on Virtual Design and Construction, as well as Quality, Commissioning, and Digital Twins. InEight leverages Max’s experience as an entrepreneur and hands-on technologist to identify business opportunities and develop prototypes of new functionality.
Prior to InEight, Max was the Founder and CEO of M-SIX, which was acquired by InEight in 2018. Prior to M-SIX, Max worked in the music industry as a drummer, arranger, producer and engineer.
Tad Bungener
Tad Bungener is the executive vice president of marketing, communications and go-to-market strategies for InEight. In this role, he’s charged with leading the global marketing organization to build the brand and create customer demand in markets around the world.
Overseeing a global team of professionals focused on designing, building and executing growth strategies for InEight, he blends marketing expertise, business acumen and a highly skilled team to sustain high-paced growth and long-term value for InEight.
Tad has 20 years of marketing leadership experience in the capital project management software space. Throughout his career, Tad has been bringing brands to life that deliver positive, sustainable and lasting impact on all employee, customer and partner stakeholders.
He has held multiple leadership roles related to sales, business development and marketing.
Tad earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Norbert College, where he specialized in business management and marketing.
