Annual Event Provides Enjoyment for Young Cancer Patients and Their Families
October 15, 2019 — SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — InEight is joining Valley companies in sponsoring the American Cancer Society’s Big Dig in the Desert taking place in Phoenix, Arizona on November 2, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Participants will have a chance to experience the look and feel of a real construction site. With safety checks and equipment operation, young cancer patients and their families can don their hard hats and enjoy a day in the life of a construction worker.
Last year’s event had 1,400 attendees, which included almost 150 survivors and their family members. Kids were able to operate moving excavators, reach new heights on the scissor lifts and pose for photos with several pieces of stationary equipment.
This year’s event will be held at 5th Street and McKinley in downtown Phoenix.
More than 20 InEight employees are volunteering to support this event. “I am honored that our InEight team is supporting the Big Dig and demonstrating our commitment to the ACS,” says Scott Workman, InEight chief administrative officer. “We are very proud of the opportunity we have to build confidence in these young people and their families and give them a chance to fully experience the energy and excitement of the construction industry on an actual jobsite.”
