InEight Recognizes Careers in Construction Month

It’s Careers in Construction Month!

InEight construction planning and estimating software is proud to recognize October as Careers in Construction Month (CICM). It’s a chance for the industry to promote construction during a downturn in management succession involving skilled workers. U.S. Census data reports construction professionals aged 55-64 are increasing, while the number of those aged 33-54 are decreasing, and this “brain drain” trend shows no signs of changing. This seems like the perfect, and much-needed opportunity, to spread the word about construction career paths.

Back to School

It’s important to engage with Generation Z in a college setting. These young people are often described as “tech-savvy independents.” Unfortunately, they may not be looking at construction as a career and, worse yet, not recognizing the industry has limitless opportunities.

Construction remains one of the top five drivers of the worldwide economy and construction jobs have been deemed “essential” during every economic downturn. There is a reason states are constantly sponsoring “construction career days” geared towards students from all backgrounds and ages. These jobs ignite economies and, quite literally, build our future.

Companies must demonstrate to students in the classroom that construction software technology has come a long way and is constantly pushing the envelope to be more collaborative and innovative. Thought leaders from InEight have been on the college lecture circuit for years, showing how cutting-edge technologies are changing the face of the construction industry, in an effort to educate and inspire a new generation of technology-focused leaders. We need these students to be engaged in the future of construction management.

There are several resources that offer insights into careers in construction. Build Your Future and the U.S. Department of Labor are great places to start and learn more about this exciting and vital initiative.
