Frequently Asked Questions

What is InEight Billings most commonly used for?

InEight Billings helps customers capture 100% of billable revenue on time-and-materials or cost-plus projects.

Can InEight Billings retroactively adjust rates?

Yes, and you can easily adjust rates in mass, if needed. This functionality can be a benefit when there is a union rate change or a craft classification is changed and you need to adjust the associated rates retroactively.

Can you preset rates for next year’s contract changes?

Yes. You can setup default markup as it applies to labor, equipment, material, and other third-party expenses. Additionally, you can capture any exceptions that need to be applied to the default markups at a very granular level.

Is there a limit on how many jobs can be tracked?

No, there is no limit to the number of projects you can manage in InEight Billings.

How does InEight Billings manage rates and markups when they differ by project?

InEight Billings allows for project-by-project configuration so it can be tailored to each specific project’s needs. Contract billing rates are managed within rate tables, which in turn are associated with projects or jobs. Rate tables associated with a project are used by all WBS items contained within that job. This gives you more granular control over billing rates since you can associate each WBS item to a different rate table, if the project requires it. And, by holding rates separate from the project, InEight Billings makes it easy to re-use or share existing sets of rates between different projects.

What type of reports are included?

InEight Billings includes numerous web-based reports and dashboards. Reports include real-time information about project costs, productivity, and completion forecasting. You can report on expended hours and costs, exceptions, and payroll reconciliation. You can also use the reporting tool to quickly review inputs and test “what if” scenarios. All reports can be printed including your template and logo eliminating the need to reformat before printing.

Is it possible to import timesheets from spreadsheets?

Yes, you can import timesheets into InEight Billings from spreadsheets. But if you have the full InEight platform, doing so isn’t necessary, because the information is integrated for you through the InEight Plan & Progress applications.

Can the tool handle lump sum projects?

Yes, however, we don’t recommend that you purchase InEight Billings solely for this purpose. The real benefit of InEight Billings is realized on our customers’ time-and-materials and cost-plus work.

Can third-party invoices be pushed into InEight Billings automatically?

Yes, InEight Billings accepts third-party data feeds through API. Billable items can arrive into InEight Billings via manual entry, imported from spreadsheets, submitted from the mobile app, or received directly from your ERP by using the InEight Billings API.

How does InEight pricing work?

Because our platform covers the entire construction lifecycle, our customers purchase our software based on their specific needs – purchasing stand-alone products, a bundle of products, or the entire platform.
